Friday Scrapbooking – 3D glasses

Yay! It’s friday!

This week’s layout is a bit mixed media….

img_3512

The photos:

So Eleanor has this fish bowl of glasses in her room. Sunglasses, funny glasses, light up glasses, and 3D glasses she collected from whenever we saw a 3D movie. One day she decided to pop out the lenses in one of the black 3D’s and just wear them to compliment her outfit. Since that day, she’s been wearing them a lot. Besides people offering to clean her lenses, I think they look pretty cute.  lol.  Though I warn her that she will probably end up needing glasses anyway based on the family’s eyesight. But… who doesn’t need glasses these days?

img_2206

So I started snapping pics and she started posing… and within a day, it was in the scrapbook.  lol.

I used two sheets of paper from a paper packet from CTMH.  One of them had lines and I was going to journal on it, but I decided to pop circles out and make a background. I used washi to fill in the circles from behind and then sewed down the paper to the polka dot background.

Then I used texture paste and a stencil to add the arrows on top. The rest of the embellishments are made of the circles I punched, some lace, watercolor, and some thread.

img_3508

Oh, and also, before cutting out the photos, I used some blue watercolor on them. I kinda wanted that blue to be a theme in the page.

I didn’t use a “kit” per say…   I pulled some paper from my CTMH stash, and the rest is watercolors, texture paste, and some sewing.

For the full play by play, you can watch the process.

Have a great weekend!

Close to my heart- Sugar Rush – stamping and fussy cutting – Love Art

Lately Friday nights have been crafty.

img_1886

Last friday we stayed up late again with some watercolors.  I love how kids can just come up with 10 paintings in one night and adults can maybe…  maybe complete one.

img_3449

So I decided to snap a pic of her painting in her light up kitty ear headphones and scrap it… immediately.  lol.

The stamp set I used was the January Stamp of the month set.

This month is is this:

Easter Bunny

So you can get prepared for Easter!  lol.  It’s a good idea to take advantage of the stamp of the month, because you can get it for $5 with a qualifying order. And then it’s gone…. sniff sniff….

img_3450

So for this layout I made embellishments by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting. You can see this process in the video below.

Stuff I used in this layout:

Micro tip Scissors

Water colors

Water color pencils

Sugar Rush kit

Foam tape

img_3452

And then I made a coordinating pocket page for the other side.  This seems to be my go-to style.  One 12×12 and a pocket page….  lol.

We did a part 1 and part 2 process since it was kinda long…

We’ll be back for more crafting next week!  God Bless!

Friday Scrapbooking – CTMH – Sugar Rush- January 2017

2017 Goals include:

Scrapbooking on a monthly basis!  YAY!  We’ll see how it goes…

I think what happens is … I have so many old un-finished projects that I feel like I should work on those before I do current stuff… but this year I’ve decided to get the current stuff done first. That way it’s easier to remember what actually happened and I can get some better documentation of the year.

So I’m not going to worry about making some awesome artwork as much as just getting the pages at least laid out. I can always go back later and add to them.

For this layout I used the Sugar Rush kit from Close to my heart. It features a lot of smooshy stuff like hearts and hugs… lol.  So I had these adorable pics of Eleanor squishing my nephew Josh on the couch so I thought I’d use them. I think it’s important to remember just how much squooishing went on at this particular time in Josh’s life.

img_1765

He really is a good sport about it.

img_1758

I ended up doing a coordinating pocket page for the other side. I had kinda a “one of these things is not like the other” thing goin’ on with the pics so I grouped the three “like” ones together on the right and then the oddball pic highlights the pocket page.

If you want to use this kit to scrapbook, the links are down below.

Stuff I used:

Sugar Rush Scrapbook Kit

WaterColor Set

Corner Rounder

Journaling Pen

Stamp of the Month

Shop the store

I also did a talky process vid for this one….

Have a great weekend! xoxoxoox

Wilna’s Bear Coffee Cup Challenge

So this past friday night, Eleanor and I were hanging in the craft room and felt like watching some crafty vids on youtube while we played with glue and stuff. I scrolled through my subscriptions and came upon Wilna Furstenberg. And I was like.. “Yes!” She is our favorite paper crafter to watch on Youtube and it had been a while since we tuned in. So the first video we came across was this adorable coffee cup album featuring these adorable bears. As we continued to watch, she started talking about having a contest for whomever makes one of these albums and shares it on instagram. So we looked at each other and said, “Let’s DO IT!” And then we immediately scrambled into the kitchen to look for some paper coffee cups. We didn’t find any. It was almost 11pm. We walked out into the living room to ask Daryl if he thought Dunkin Donuts might still be open. He said yes and requested a hot chocolate. That was good enough for us, so we hopped in the car and drove to DD.

They were closed.

But luckily across the street from Dunkin is a McDonalds. That was open, so we decided to grab a few cups of hot beverage there. We got back home, dumped the liquid, and started working.

Wilna had links to some downloads we could use in the album. First, there were the ADORABLE watercolor bear images that she created! And also there were beautiful frames you could use to embellish your album. She also included cut files you could use for your Silhouette Cameo. Part of me is glad she included these cut files because it forced me to finally try out the print and cut feature on this machine. I can’t believe how long I’ve had my Silhouette and have never print and cut. It was so easy. And it really saved time fussy cutting images.

I was originally going to make my album about Norma, but as I scrolled through my phone, I had all these pictures of Eleanor posing in her Christmas Eve dress that I decided it would be a good way to use them.

Here are the details for this challenge if anyone else would like to play along: http://wilnafurstenberg.com/bears

You should visit her site anyway because she is amazing! Love her.

Eleanor chose to feature her new baby cousin Joshua. Sometimes I think she thinks he’s her doll that she can just play with as she pleases. So far, he lets her. He’s quite a content little guy. So we printed out some of the pics I had of them for her album. The cover is a cute snapchat pic of him as a deer. lol.  He makes a pretty cute little deer.

She loved the bear illustrations so much I think she used them all! They are adorable. The one I chose for my cover has a little dog on it’s head… which is why I originally wanted to do an album about Norma, … I might still do that. I saved another coffee cup.   On top of a lot of bears, Eleanor also used a bucket of hot glue sticks. I had to pick a lot of strings off her album when she was done. lol.  And it also made her album much bulkier than mine. I think she did a great job. It came out super cute!

We had so much fun making these albums. If anyone else decides to try one, we’d love to see it! The instagram hashtag is #bearscoffeecupchallenge.

Anyway, thanks again Wilna for the inspiration. See ya’ll later!

God Bless!

Saturday Scrapbooking – Seven

Fitty-scrapbooking-seven-eleanor-12x12-birthday

This one started as a single 12×12 layout, but ended up as a double… Ya know when you have a series of pics, and you just can’t decide which ones to highlight…

Actually, I had planned on a project life spread on the other side, but it ended up like this.

The background is just some acrylic paint smeared with some watercolor splatters… and some circles with my journaling pen.  Much of the rest is layering from pieces of this and that…  And then I just embellished a bit with some rub-ons and sequins.

I can’t believe I have a seven year old. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have more than one child… and they just keep getting older and older and smarter and bigger… and… AHHHH.  I’m gonna stop right there. We would probably be in that situation, but I suppose it’s not in God’s plan for us.

img_4199

So here is my process video!  It features music from my AMAZINGLY talented friend Hannah Guerra! Definitely go check out her music, it’s just gorgeous! I linked up her soundcloud down below for your convenience!

Enjoy!  And have a blessed Sunday!

12 Crafts of Christmas- Day 12 – December Daily Album

You didn’t think I’d make it through all 12 crafts without getting scrappy did you??? Ha! Well… I actually didn’t get too scrappy yet. But the scrapfest is inevitable due to this self-given prompt.

So for those of you who aren’t wrapped up in the Scrapbooking community like I am… especially around this time of year… you may not know what “December Daily” means.

This whole December Daily thing was started by Ali Edwards, a very talented scrapbooker among other things… So if you want to join in and are clueless, she has some kits to get you started on her site: Aliedwards.com

I have nothing new so far myself.  I’m aiming to jump into my stash and make most of it a kind of organic whatever I can find type thing. But I may grab a few festive bits here and there.

The idea is to document the month of december… daily…  with some kind of story. Even if you sat on the couch all day and watched “Elf,” you should include that. I don’t think there are any problems coming up with material to scrap because it’s the busiest month for most and there are usually at least 9 different parties to attend.

image

Well, I hate to admit this, but I’ve never actually finished a December Daily album. I’ve started them… had the best intentions… but for some reason… they just never got to the point of being display worthy. To be totally honest, most of my own mini albums never get finished.  I only finish the ones that I make as gifts. I must need that “deadline” to actually make things happen.

But this year, I’ve decided is the year! And I think the key is organization. In past years, I’ve waited until after the holidays to even think about this album. So this year, my last craft for the 12 Crafts of Christmas will be the first step to making my December Daily a reality!

image

I probably would have used another old book… but they all went to my Advent Calendar… lol.

I found this plain Kraft Binder that I never used. I believe I got it from Close to My Heart. But they have them at any craft supply store in all kinds of sizes.

So I’m looking at this binder… and I just didn’t want to do what I usually would do which is cover it with fabric, so I slept on it.  The idea came to me at 6am to paint it like a Christmas door… so I got up and got started.  Lol…    coffee is always made at that time anyway because I set it up the night before for my husband to just push the button in the morning before he leaves for work. So I got to work in my Christmas Owl jammies mommy got me for Christmas last year… and I got my cup of coffee and started marking out where I wanted  to cut holes for the top part of the door. I know I want to make the first inside page something that can peek through the cover.  Haven’t exactly planned it out yet, but that will be for another post. This is strictly a cover post.

image

I did end up using some fabric for the side. So… a little won’t hurt. But I think overall, I’m keeping the color scheme cool. I did a blue berry wreath on the front instead of a red one. Mainly because I had blue paint handy.  So after I saw the blue and white I mentally decided on a blue, grey, white color palatte for the rest.

image

So there’s nothing really to tell here because all I did was paint it so far. But I did a video of the painting if anyone wants a tutorial on how to paint an old white door with a blueberry wreath on it.  heh…  Well, not necessarily a tutorial because I don’t know anything about painting except that I like to do it.

So I used Golden Acrylics: Zinc White, Cerulean Blue, and Mars Black. A couple of Artist’s loft brushes, a sponge, and my fingers.  I may still add some green holly leaves perhaps. Haven’t decided if that will wreck the coldness of the cover.  We shall see!

Oh, and I also used an exacto knife to cut out the holes it the door! It wasn’t hard. The album is like a chipboard.. so didn’t take long to break through!

Anyway, thanks to all who have followed us through our 12 crafts!  We hope this has inspired someone to get crafty this Christmas!

Here is my painting vid to music. I like to listen to music when I paint so I figured I’d stop talking for this one. Lol. I was listening to Band of Horses and Andrew Bird while I painted this… but I don’t think I’m allowed to use their music for my video. haha… But I do reccomend doing your own painting while listening to them.

God Bless! Happy December!

YTLH Double Time- JULY- Sketch

The YouTube Layout Hop for July is now under way….

If you’d like to join in on the action, click here:  YTLH

It was extra special for us because Roo got to join in on the fun this month!  She did an awesome job!

The theme this month was “Sketch.”  For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s when you base your layout on a “sketch” or an outline of sorts.  This design was created by one of our members: Meital Tene Zeevi

11666052_684371831695105_1433003615295373664_n

Sooooo…  we had to base our projects off of this sketch.

Roo used some pics from last summer of her and her cousin Luke at the beach and boardwalk…  (from the same pile of pics I’m using for the Beach mini album)

11813505_1020889194617946_7149382303617063794_n

I love seeing the evolving mess that occurs when she gets into her work.  lol.  And I guess it’s not so far off from what my side of the table looks like after a project…

 Roo’s layout:

image

Stuff Roo used:

Mists
Masks
Stamps
Washi Tape
Stickers, Stickers, Stickers…
Cardstock from Chalk it Up workshop kit

imageimage

At some point she got into her sticker bin and then it was all over… anything went…  Hawaiian… Halloween… Hello Kitty…  iCarly…  and I think she even says something in her video about not caring that it’s not Halloween…

And speaking of the vid, here it is:

Fitty’s Layout:

And for my layout, I used a recent pic from the week before of Roo in the grass patiently awaiting  for R5 to hit the stage.

image

Stuff Fitty used:

Close to my heart “Chalk it up” workshop kit

Close to my heart craft heater

Heidi Swapp Texture paste
Heidi Swapp Planner embellishments
Heidi Swapp Color Shine
Heidi Swapp Mini Stencils

imageimage

I used something new in this layout… Texture Paste!  Love it!  It dried pretty fast and I used it just like modeling paste.  A bit thinner and the Heidi Swapp brand I got came in a bunch of colors.  Really happy with the results!  And I even sewed through it… (don’t do that)

So you decide who stuck to the sketch best…   I think we both kinda strayed a bit…

Here’s my vid:

Both our vids have a similar intro.  We decided to get silly since Roo was joining in the fun…  But we kinda ran outta time due to the fact we were leaving for PA for four days and getting back today, so that left no editing time or uploading time.  And we all know it can sometimes take 3 days for your video to upload.  hahaha

Enjoy the weekend!

Keep Happy in a box, that way you’ll never lose it.

IMG_2796

So one of my favorite people to follow on Youtube is a gal who’s channel goes by the name of PAPERSPEAKS.

Her name is Mel and she has a fun sidekick Pat ( a big white gloved pointer ).  She’s a super duper nicehead and she does a lot of hand-made journals and cards and really cool stuff.

She recently posted a challenge to create something that would be like an aid when you’re creatively blocked, or, as she put it, when you’ve lost your mojo.

And it happens to all of us no matter what we’re into.   We play a crappy game of baseball, we sing bad notes, or sometimes we just wanna sit in the corner and cry.  And it’s times like that where even the thing we love doing the most seems like a waste of time.  Though it probably doesn’t seem like it… I feel like that quite often. I just wanna pack up my paper and photos in boxes and try to forget that I ever enjoyed scrapbooking. I start to wonder who I’m doing it for…  Will my daughter dread having her entire life documented in volumes when she’s older?  I’m pretty sure the dog (s) don’t mind.

Well anyhow… what I decided to make for myself was a recipe box just simply filled with photos that I like to look at. Because for me, the photo is what makes me want to scrapbook.  It’s not the scrapbooking stuff…  it’s taking a photo, printing it out and thinking…  SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE… this photo is so delicious I could eat it!  And what makes it hard is that I take a gazillion photos a week, so just picking out a few to scrapbook is tricky. So for me ( for you for me… )  scrapbooking isn’t solving my problem of getting photos out of boxes (or hard drives) and into scralbums, it’s just highlighting what’s in the boxes. I may actually get some good ol’ fashioned photo albums and coordinate them with my scrapbooks.  So I can have the bulk of a photo shoot in a photo album, and then the real important stuff in the scrapbook.

IMG_2808

So this was one of those CTMH recipe boxes I’ve had forever.   I had two.. but Roo decided to make one also.  She filled hers with smurf.  Who doesn’t get a little happy from a box of smurf?

So I have different sized photos in here, some I took from Pinterest, some I took from my own photo stash, and I just tabbed the tops so I can pull em’ out easy.

IMG_2793

So out of all the challenges I’ve missed, I’m glad I was able to sneak this one in, because I think I actually will pick through this box when I’m feeling blue.  There’s plenty more room in it to keep adding stuff so now as I come across something, I can just toss it in there.

Here’s a link to what Mel made to help get her Mojo back.  I love it!

And thanks again Mel for the great challenge idea!  Looks like everyone got a very good something out of it!
