Close to my heart- Sugar Rush – stamping and fussy cutting – Love Art

Lately Friday nights have been crafty.

Last friday we stayed up late again with some watercolors.  I love how kids can just come up with 10 paintings in one night and adults can maybe…  maybe complete one.

So I decided to snap a pic of her painting in her light up kitty ear headphones and scrap it… immediately.  lol.

The stamp set I used was the January Stamp of the month set.

This month is is this:

Easter Bunny

So you can get prepared for Easter!  lol.  It’s a good idea to take advantage of the stamp of the month, because you can get it for $5 with a qualifying order. And then it’s gone…. sniff sniff….

So for this layout I made embellishments by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting. You can see this process in the video below.

Stuff I used in this layout:

Micro tip Scissors

Water colors

Water color pencils

Sugar Rush kit

Foam tape

And then I made a coordinating pocket page for the other side.  This seems to be my go-to style.  One 12×12 and a pocket page….  lol.

We did a part 1 and part 2 process since it was kinda long…

We’ll be back for more crafting next week!  God Bless!

Simple Doodle Doo

Yes, I’m still working on these photos from the same shoot…  lol.

But this is the last I’ll post about.  (heh)image

She was kinda daydreaming on her bed… made me wish I was a kid again.

So when I saw this pic, i got an instant idea for a doodle layout.

I remember doing a project like this in 7th grade art class.  We cut a picture out of a magazine, glued it to our paper, and then drew out the rest of the picture.  Kinda just extending the photo…

So I did a similar thing with this picture.  I made up most of it.  There are no birds in her room…  but there are little dragonflies on the wall .. so I drew more of them and filled in the top of her name banner… etc…  And who knows, maybe this is how she pictures her room in her head…

It’s a quick and easy way to make a layout if you don’t have a lot of embellishments around.  The only things I used besides the pen and watercolors were some wood veneers, some confetti stars, and a few flags…

Eleanor I love you. More than ice cream.

I know I’ve said this before that I am not a photographer. I just play one on TV. However, 18,678,334,468,499.09 pictures later, I think I may try to actually look into getting a bit more knowledge on the subject. I mean, I at least bought one of those “REBEL T2i for dummies” books when I got this camera a few years ago… and I have to say, I’m still a big fan of this camera. It still gets the job done as far as I’m concerned. I’ve never tried Nikons so I can’t compare… I’ve always had some sort of Canon. And when my nephews were born, they had trouble with r’s, so they called me Aunt Kanen instead of Aunt Karen, so maybe it’s fate. I won’t mess with fate.

And this year starting on July 4th while were at a town fair, I finally let my daughter use my camera. I KNOW… everyone was looking at me thinking… “did she really just give a 3-year her big clunky camera!” Actually… if they didn’t know us I’m sure they thought she was 5 at least… She’s a mature 3. So she put the strap over her head and I showed her which button to push and where to look and 800 pictures later she was hooked. So now we share my camera. And I’m sure she’ll be taking better pictures than me by the time she is 5.

So this photo shoot she staged happened a few weeks ago… but when she was done taking pictures of bear bear and (I don’t know the other one’s name… her cousin Tierney left it here when she slept over after the BTR concert.. Eleanor said she gave it to her… but I have to double check on that.. ;).. ) So let’s just say Bear bear and monkey monkey! When she was done with the camera, she jumped in and asked me to take her photo with them. And I just got around to putting the pics on the computer and for some reason this pic:

just asked to be scraped. So I actually had an idea before I started which isn’t usual. And since I planned on almost exclusively doodling for the page, I decided to print the photo bigger than I usually would. SO I did a little more than doodle, but not much.

And these were just American Crafts pens.  The black is mostly a project life journaling pen.. then I did a bit of coloring in with Tim Holtz distresser markers.

So here’s a process vid for this layout.  I didn’t do them for a few weeks because of poison ivy. .. lol.   Didn’t wanna have to cut out all the itching.. 🙂

It IS super easy!

Is is sooo easy to throw a layout together in less than 30 minutes and still say “Yes. Instead of throwing that away, I will hang onto it!”

There is very little involved here…

1. Three different papers

2. Some letter stickers

3. A couple velum arrows

4. A few brads

5. A a touch of sewing and doodling.

ALL optional.

I threw together this super short vid… it’s just a series of photos showing the very short evolution of this layout. Just to throw it out there that YES, you can do some scapbooking on a weeknight! I did this page on a thursday night in about 33 minutes. I used the December Studio Calico kit exclusively! Joining kit clubs I think is a great way to be inspired every month. It keeps things fresh and exciting!
I will be starting one in January for those of you who need a little push! And I will post some ideas along with each kit to get the juices flowing!

The video is not so great, I apologize… but it was the best I could do with my current set up here… 🙂
